Tips for Black Friday shopping so you can get the most out of it!
Did you miss us this morning on WDEL?
We've got you covered, check out our Black Friday shopping tips below.
First of all, you
don't have to wait until Black Friday to shop the deals. Black Friday sales
started the weekend before Thanksgiving, with some retailers like Amazon
starting even sooner. So what deals are even left by Black Friday?
DOORBUSTERS! Now are
these even a deal??? You have to know that the TV you got from Kohls, a place
who DOESN'T SELL TVs isn't going to be the cream of the crop. Sure, it may be a
brand you are familiar with, but it's likely made cheaper, never been sold at
the MSRP price, and manufactured just for Black Friday. Check those model
numbers to be sure. Another gimmick is rebates. Will you end up with a low
price? Sure! If you remember to mail in the rebate.
One good thing about
Black Friday is that you don't really have to go to 25 different stores
anymore. They are all price matching each other. If you aren't sure if what you
are seeing in the store is a good deal, pull out your phone and check the
Amazon app, or another bar code scanning app. Let technology work for you,
these apps will price match and let you know what the price is at other
retailers nearby.
If you have been
seeing sales all week and are worried about pulling the trigger because their
early Black Friday sales may not be as great as the actual Black Friday sales, some companies are going to do price adjustments (not on tvs, I'm talking about
apparel, small electronics and home goods here - sorry if you want that cheap
TV you have to go to the store at the crack of dawn!) so check the store's
policy. For certain Black Friday items it may not be the case, but your credit card may offer some protection for price drops as well. But the best deals are going to be before December 19th. After that the
stores know that you waited and need to buy gifts, they don't need to lure you
with big price drops. Your guilt will get you in the store because you don't
want to show up with no gifts this year!
To sum it up, I like
the atmosphere of going out on Black Friday, even though I've done most of my
shopping. I pick up some little things and some apparel items, but I leave the
big items and toys for Amazon. Amazon has been price matching like crazy, even
taking store coupons into account. And I'm too lazy to lug big toys into my car
and then my house. Don't even talk to me about trying to hide them. I'd rather
they be delivered while kids are at school, I track all my items and mark what
is in the box and put it away immediately. Also, coming in with tons of bags is
a huge red flag for my husband so I'd rather not draw his attention to that!
If you venture out
this year - good luck! Let us know how it goes and if you are able to grab any
crazy good deals!
